I hope you'll continue to join me for more quilting tutorials here on the Sizzix blog. You can find instructions for the Quarter Square Triangle Blocks and Drunkard's Path Quarter Circle Block over at my blog. This is the third tutorial in a series where I'm making blocks that will eventually all be combined into a sampler quilt of Sizzix blocks. Tada, you're done! You have a finished Kaleidoscope block. Sew together using a 1/4" seam allowance, making sure to remove each clip before it collides with the foot on your machine. Now clip a linen triangle to the end of four alternating larger triangles. Sew along the length using a 1/4" seam allowance. Place the two units right sides together, and place a clip at each edge. ![]() Repeat the previous steps to make another of the same unit, reversing the positions of the prints so that when you sew the units together, the fabrics alternate. Now you've got a unit of four joined pieces. Use a 1/4" seam allowance to sew them together. Place these two units right sides together, and place a clip at each end (as pictured). Repeat the steps to make another joined triangle unit with the fabric positions reversed as pictured. Using a 1/4" seam, sew the two pieces together. Take one of each of the larger triangle prints, place them right sides together and place a clip at each edge of one of the longer sides. Run the "Sandwich" through the machine, turning the handle until it's all the way through the other side.Īnd just like that, you've got the remaining parts of the block (eight more triangles) all set to go. Place the second Cutting Pad on top, and your next Sizzix "Sandwich" is complete. Make sure the die is slightly askew on the Cutting Pad. Now, you'll add two layers of two different prints to the top of the die, making sure to cover the larger triangle portions of the die. Turn the handle until it's all the way through the other side.Īnd just like that, we've got the first four pieces of the block. It's time to feed the "Sandwich" through the machine. Wind transparent tape around the triangle, approximately 1/2 inch from each end. Line up the corners to form an equilateral triangle. Gently and carefully fold the mirrors into a triangle, shiny sides in. Gather the mirrors in your hands, long edges together. ![]() Place the second Cutting Pad on top, and your Sizzix "Sandwich" is complete! For each kaleidoscope, remove the protective film from the faces of three mirrors. The two layers will give you the four corner pieces you will need for the block. Then stack two layers of linen, making sure to cover the cutting area of the smaller triangles. The first step is to make a Sizzix "Sandwich." Start with a Cutting Pad, and place the die on top, foam side up and slightly askew.
